When will we have a corona virus vaccine

There are more than 150 vaccines are developed and being tested around the world, including India, China, The US, Russia, and Isreal. At present, 23 Vaccine is in a human clinical trial. 

Some vaccines even crossed phases 1 and 2 which has shown good results and also showed some side effects like slight headache, dizziness, fever, and light muscle pain.

Most of the Vaccine have tested on healthy people between the age of 18-55. High-risk patients, pregnant women, and elderlies were not tested.

The phase 3 trial is a more crucial one, considering it involves a large pool of volunteers and it will be easier to test out any side effects, pros, and cons. 

In vaccination dosage also play an important role. To give a single or double dosage more research may also be required to conclude.

WHO says that it will take the next year 2021 for the COVID-19 vaccine.

When will we have a corona virus vaccine

Oxford-Astrazeneca 

A clinical trial of this vaccine started in late April and named AZD1222. This vaccine has completed phases 1 and 2 and undergoing phase 3.

Sinovac Biotech

It is a Chinese pharmaceutical firm company and developed a COVID vaccine it was started late January. This vaccine has completed phases 1 and 2 and from July 6 it is undergoing phase 3.

Pfizer BioNTec

German biotech firm and US pharma giant Pfizer have developed the mRNA vaccine. Currently, this company is working on 4 experimental vaccines and they hope to seek regulatory nod for the COVID vaccine as early as October 2020 and have a vaccine by the end of this year.

Russia COVID-19 Vaccine

It was lead by the state-run Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and microbiology and the Main Military Clinical Burdenko Hospital. It also completed phase 1 and 2 and the Russian health minister said it will be made available for the general public before completing the third and last phase of clinical trials. 

Covaxin 

It was developed by the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech with the collaboration with ICMR and the National institution of virology(NIV). It has recently got approval for clinical trials from DCGI and started the trial.
